PHILANTHROPY AND SERVICE

PHILANTHROPY AND SERVICE

Delta Zeta’s philanthropic focus is hearing and speech.

Our Zeta Pi chapter proudly supports Delta Zeta’s three national philanthropies: SeriousFun Children’s Network, the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and the American Society for Deaf Children.

Additionally, we have a local philanthropic partner. The Zeta Pi Turtle Grant fundraises for and gives us one-on-one experience with children in the deaf and hard of hearing classrooms at Winterville Elementary School every month.

Visit the link below to learn more about the goals and work of each of Delta Zeta’s national philanthropies.

Our Events

Each school year, Delta Zeta hosts three events at our house to help us raise money for our philanthropic partners. Our events are amongst the biggest on campus and we look forward every semester to provide food, entertainment, and fun to our members, other UGA students, professors, and Athens local residents alike.

In the fall, we host Wing Bash where guests can enjoy all you can eat wings and sides. Athens local bands come out to play live music and we invite campus celebrities and athletes to participate in a wing eating competition. When you’re done eating, you are welcome to play lawn games, enter one of the many raffle opportunities throughout the night, purchase a souvenir t-shirt, or visit a pop-up shop to purchase jewelry, gameday attire, and more! Majority of the proceeds from this event go towards helping the Starkey Hearing Foundation. In 2024, Wing Bash raised over $16,700!

Our spring philanthropy event is called Bite of Athens. This event is a fan favorite and allows attendees to experience the variety of cuisine that Athens, GA has to offer. We have around 20 restaurants and vendors donate bite-size samples of their most famous recipes. Each guest is provided 10 tickets which can be redeemed at the 10 restaurants of their choice ranging from drinks, breakfast foods, dinner, and then desserts! Similarly to Wing Bash, this event also features live music, t-shirt sales, raffle opportunities, and pop-up shops. Majority of the proceeds from Bite of Athens go towards helping the SeriousFun Children’s Network. We feel very grateful to have been able to send over $14,000 to them!

In 2023, we started a new tradition! We have had the opportunity to add a second philanthropy event to our spring semester by co-hosting a volleyball tournament with another Greek Life organization on campus. Teams of 6-8 sign up to compete against each other for the chance to win a cash prize. Other than volleyball, there are several lawn games, snowcones, and a grill out for all to enjoy. No matter whether you are competing or spectating, it is the perfect day to kick off spring in Athens. We are already looking forward to our 2026 Volleyball Tournament!
